Well... as they say, "Once a Missionary... Always a Missionary". God has called us back to Papua New Guinea! The Foursquare Church of Papua New Guinea has invited us back to serve as
leadership trainers in the province of East New Britain in the town of Kokopo. We are now in the midst of planning on returning to serve for multiple three-year terms and our target departure date, (Lord willing), is September
2007. There are many things that need to take place before it happens but we know we have a BIG GOD.
Please pray for us as we make our plans to return. In the past we have served in PNG for over three years, two of which as Islands Regional Supervisor. We will return to continue what we started with our primary focus on pastoral training and discipleship serving under the National leadership. This also would include women and children's ministries, prison and medical outreaches, and well drilling. Our number one goal as Foursquare Missionaries is to help the National Church to be strong and self-sustaining. We want to set up a regular series of Pastor continuing education taught by National Pastors. I will be training Pastors and leaders on how to asses the local Pastors training needs, how to develop curriculum, and effective delivery. So in a nutshell, I’m working my self out of a job. We would also like to set up a center where teams and individuals can come to assist the National Church in their work. Remember, Missionaries are just ordinary people serving God in extraordinary circumstances.
In secular war, for every one person on the battlefront, there are nine others backing him up in what is called the 'line of communication. For every one Missionary sent to the field there should be six support personnel assigned to them. But no Missionary can do it alone, for we are your (the Body of Christ’s) hands extended. Foursquare Missions Associates are a self-funded branch of Foursquare Missions International so that means we are supported directly by friends, family and churches such as you. It is very important for us to now begin to build our home team.
The Six Missionary “Home Team” Members
1. Moral Support: Just "being there".
2. Logistics Support: All the bits and pieces.
3. Financial Support: The resources to get the job done.
4. Prayer Support: Spiritual warfare.
5. Communication Support: Letters, Tapes, and More.
6. Re-entry Support: More than "Welcome Home!"
The greatest need is that you pray for us as we start going forward. Also, pray and ask God if He would have you serve as a sender in one of the above categories. We have been so blessed to be here in the US but our hearts and minds are still in Papua New Guinea. We are in tears when we see pictures or documentaries of the islands. Now we understand what Paul meant in Ephesians when he said how he yearned to return to see them again.
The Missionary Heart:
Care more than some think is wise.
Risk more than some think is safe.
Dream more than some think is practical.
Expect more than some think is possible.
Called not to comfort or success but to obedience….
